 A message from our President:
Hello Ladies,We will be having our next IWC meeting on Saturday, October 4th, 2014 at the Hong Kong restaurant located at Xcaret y Labná, SM 35, Mz 2, Lote 6, Centro, 77500 Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The phone is 998 892 3456. The time is 9:30 AM and the cost is $160 pesos. Please bring exact change. It will make it so much easier for Ellinor. As always, newcomers are welcome. Our November event is just around the corner and we are hoping all of you will help with items for the auction and raffle items but most importantly buying and/or selling tickets!!!! Finishing the year with a substantial donation to AITANA is our goal!! The event will be fabulous, as always, and will be an opportunity to get dressed up and have a great time with our friends and family. We have had to cancel our talent show due to problems with the venue. Cynthia is working on putting something together for early in 2015. If any of you have any suggestions/contacts for a venue, please let us know. Thanks so very much! See you next Saturday…..
During the February meeting we collected money in order to buy chairs for the AITANA house. Yesterday 21 chairs were delivered to Yolanda Yusi founder of: Unidos por Aitana. A big hand to all the ladies that contributed, Thanks!
AITANA Foundation
The IWC Board had decided to name the AITANA Foundation our beneficiary for 2014. AITANA is a foundation created to help children with cancer in Quintana Roo. Cancún does not have pediatric oncologists, chemotherapy or radiotherapy …devices at the Social Security’s installations. The children have to be transported to Mérida, Chetumal or Mexico City for their treatments. We are asking the community to help. A donation of $500.00 a month will enable a child to receive a round trip bus ticket to the treatment center, necessary meals and a hotel room. The treatments are very debilatating. IWC is looking forward to assisting these children in a variety of ways. in addition to money for transportation, food and lodging, the foundation also needs help fixing and furnishing their day care house. We will discuss this in greater detail at our Saturday, February8th, Breakfast Meeting at Hong Kong Restaurant.  See you there at 9:30 am.
We as a Club will honor Hida’s life and legacy keeping the good work and following her example. We will miss her in every reunion, project, small detail and decision to be taken, but she will always be present in our minds and hearts. We miss you dear friend, rest in peace, you won’t be forgotten.
Dear IWC members:
As many of you know already, we have the great sorrow that Hilda passed on yesterday. She was a wonderful and beloved friend to so many of us. Alisha Sullivan is organizing an open house Memorial Ceremony on this coming… Sunday at 4:00 PM and invites you and your family to come and share all the wonderful memories she left  us. It will be held at the facilities at Maioris where Alisha lives, in Puerto Cancun. (Entering Puerto Cancun from Ave Bonampak, continue straight until see a small white one story building on your left called Maioris showroo,  then make a u-turn, go down to Puerto San Blas Street and turn right; you will see the Maiorisbuilding in front of you. Go to the area at the back of the building.) For ALISHA,
A mass will be said for Hilda at “Cristo Resucitado Church” at the Hotel Zone, tomorrow friday at 8:00pm.
A very heartbroken news:
Hilda Navarro, our beloved friend and treasurer for many years, a pillar of our Club, passed away. Our condolences go to her family and to the members of the IWC that love her immensely. Hilda, we will love and miss you always, this is a very sad day for us. You are with the Lord now.
A letter from our new president:
Hello Ladies,

My name is Louise Schwiecker and I am the new president of the International Women’s Club of Cancun.  I hope you all had a fabulous holiday and I wish you the very best in 2014. Joy in your lives, good health and prosperity.

The board and I have decided that it would be a good idea to change the meeting place for the IWC.  After much greatly appreciated investigation by Rosalinda Cahill and Maggie Marrero, it has been decided that we will give the Hong Kong restaurant a try for our first meeting of the year, Saturday, January 11th at 9:30 AM. Newcomers welcome!

The restaurant is located at Xcaret y Labná, SM 35, Mz 2, Lote 6, Centro, 77500 Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The phone is 998 892 3456.

Following the meeting, I would appreciate all of you sending me your comments by
e mail regarding your impressions of the restaurant and meeting in general.

We decided upon Hong Kong for several reasons:

1. They offered us a private room with a minimum guarantee of 20 people.
2. The buffet has a wonderful selection of foods.  In addition, eggs can be prepared to your liking and delivered to the table at no additional cost.
3. The total cost per person is $160 pesos, all inclusive, which is less costly than any other place that suited our needs.
4. Parking facilities are excellent.

In addition to notifying you of our change of venue, I have three other requests.

1. The IWC, as a whole, would really appreciate you forwarding this message to any of your friends that you think might be interested in joining.

2. I would request that anyone wanting to join the group be prepared to pay the yearly dues of $300 pesos at our first meeting.

3. If any of you would like to be a speaker or know of anyone that would be interested in being a speaker, please contact me at cancunlu@gmail.com or our Programming Coordinator, Ellinor Hansen at ellinor2005@yahoo.com.mx

I sincerely hope that you will all attend the meeting and help us to make this a successful and memorable year. Not only do we need your support in our endeavor to give back to the community, it is a fabulous opportunity to network and develop lasting friendships with other women.
