Our next meeting is on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at the Hong Kong restaurant located at Xcaret y Labná, SM 35, Mz 2, Lote 6, Centro, 77500 Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The phone is 998 892 3456. The time is 9:30 AM and the cost is $160 pesos. We are going to have a white elephant auction/sale so please bring those items you have hidden in the closet somewhere that may be another… person’s treasure. All the money will go to AITANA. We look forward to seeing you. As always, newcomers are welcome.
AITANA is having an event to celebrate the “Day Of The Children” on April 27th, at 12 noon. It is at El Jardin De Las Flores. A map to the location is published bellow, along with pictures of the gifts, your generous donations allowed us to purchase for the children. Yusi, the director requested beach towels so that is what we purchased. It would be wonderful to have members of the IWC attend to show our support. It will also be a great opportunity for you to meet some of the children.
Another wonderful holiday that is only a few weeks away is Mother’s Day. The IWC will be celebrating the day on the 9th of May at the Mocambo restaurant at 2 PM. It will be strictly a social event where we have the opportunity to enjoy each others company….. Husbands, children and friends are welcome. Each of us will pay for our own lunch. It is located at Blvd Kukulkan Km 9.5, 77500 Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, Mexico - 998 883 0398
Please let me know which of the events you will be able to attend…. Hopefully all of them!!! Thanks so very much for all you do for the community……
Remember that the cost of breakfast is $160 Pesos. Exact change would be appreciated….
Please let me know if any of you would like to speak at future meetings or know of someone who would like to do so. It certainly will contribute to a more interesting and informative meeting.
AITANA is a foundation created to help children with cancer in Quintana Roo.
Cancún does not have pediatric oncologists, chemotherapy or radiotherapy …devices at the Social Security’s installations.
The children have to be transported to Mérida, Chetumal or Mexico City for their treatments.
We are asking the community to help.
A donation of $500.00 a month will enable a child to receive a round trip bus ticket to the treatment center, necessary meals and a hotel room. The treatments are very debilatating.
IWC is looking forward to assisting these children in a variety of ways. in addition to money for transportation, food and lodging, the foundation also needs help fixing and furnishing their day care house.
We will discuss this in greater detail at our Saturday, February8th, Breakfast Meeting at Hong Kong Restaurant. See you there at 9:30 am.
It will be held at the facilities at Maioris where Alisha lives, in Puerto Cancun. (Entering Puerto Cancun from Ave Bonampak, continue straight until see a small white one story building on your left called Maioris showroo, then make a u-turn, go down to Puerto San Blas Street and turn right; you will see the Maiorisbuilding in front of you. Go to the area at the back of the building.)
My name is Louise Schwiecker and I am the new president of the International Women’s Club of Cancun. I hope you all had a fabulous holiday and I wish you the very best in 2014. Joy in your lives, good health and prosperity.
The board and I have decided that it would be a good idea to change the meeting place for the IWC. After much greatly appreciated investigation by Rosalinda Cahill and Maggie Marrero, it has been decided that we will give the Hong Kong restaurant a try for our first meeting of the year, Saturday, January 11th at 9:30 AM. Newcomers welcome!
The restaurant is located at Xcaret y Labná, SM 35, Mz 2, Lote 6, Centro, 77500 Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The phone is 998 892 3456.
Following the meeting, I would appreciate all of you sending me your comments by
We decided upon Hong Kong for several reasons:
1. They offered us a private room with a minimum guarantee of 20 people.
2. The buffet has a wonderful selection of foods. In addition, eggs can be prepared to your liking and delivered to the table at no additional cost.
3. The total cost per person is $160 pesos, all inclusive, which is less costly than any other place that suited our needs.
4. Parking facilities are excellent.
In addition to notifying you of our change of venue, I have three other requests.
1. The IWC, as a whole, would really appreciate you forwarding this message to any of your friends that you think might be interested in joining.
2. I would request that anyone wanting to join the group be prepared to pay the yearly dues of $300 pesos at our first meeting.
3. If any of you would like to be a speaker or know of anyone that would be interested in being a speaker, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or our Programming Coordinator, Ellinor Hansen at email@example.com
I sincerely hope that you will all attend the meeting and help us to make this a successful and memorable year. Not only do we need your support in our endeavor to give back to the community, it is a fabulous opportunity to network and develop lasting friendships with other women.

Each year we choose at least one charity and then spend the year raising money for it. Club dues cover club expenses because of this we are able to give 100% of the money we raise directly to charity! The IWC was founded in 1983 and in 2013 we celebrate 30 years of supporting the community of Cancun.
The IWC provides English speaking women with the opportunity to meet socially in order to exchange ideas, talents and cultural knowledge; and to contribute those ideas and talents to benefit our community. We aspire to offer a relaxed, welcoming forum for women of all ages and backgrounds, especially newcomers to Cancun and we aspire to be of service to each other and the wider community.
